HP’s webOS Powered Tablet to Be Called ‘PalmPad’?
There have been several tablets to hit the market such as the Apple iPad and even more exepcted to hit he market soon such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab. However, while many of these new tablets are more than capable competitors in the industry, many of them are also running Google’s Android.
Luckily, with the acquisation of Palm earlier this year, HP is free to release a tablet powered by the company’s much loved webOS. Unfortunately, when exactly this is set to go down we don’t know but today we have a small tid bit that goes along with the device.
Apparantly, during an analyst call, HP’s Todd Bradley has went on record as saying that the webOS powered device will actually be called the PalmPad. If this is true, we should be seeing a touchscreen touting device that will directly compete with the iPad out of HP very soon.
When that is, we don’t know, but webOS on a tablet is definitely something we’re interested in.

Ping Shares Your iTunes Library, Now Almost Useful
We were pretty skeptical about Ping's usefulness, and, after a short time playing with Apple's iTunes-based social network, our skepticism was borne out. Apple made sharing and liking music through Ping much harder than necessary, and failed to put any serious spam control in place. The result: within days of launch, activity on Ping had slowed to a trickle. The latest update to iTunes 10.0.1 fixes some of these issues by allowing you to share and rate songs directly from your iTunes library. Before, you had to search out tracks in the iTunes store.
The update adds a Ping button next to songs in your library, allowing you to quickly like or post a track, or visit the artist's profile. The same options are also available from the Ping sidebar, which shows your sharing options for the currently highlighted track as well as updates from your friends (on which you can also comment or like). Are the changes enough to convince you to give Ping another chance? Or, is it too little too late for Apple's spam-plagued network to find a home in your already packed social networking repertoire?
